Here it is, the end of July, and you may ask… which fruits and vegetables are in season right now? Great news! This is one of the few times of year when many, many fruits and veggies are in season. All of this beautiful color means great variety not only in taste, but also important nutrients, too.
You will find fiber, calcium, folate, iron, magnesium, potassium, sodium, Vitamin A and Vitamin C are easily found in these fruits and vegetables. These vitamins and minerals act like “brick wall” when it comes to disease fighting, and helps lower the risks for some cancers, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Consuming a diet high in fruits and vegetables in low in calories, which helps prevent obesity. Add fruits and vegetables to any meal or snack for low-calorie nutrition.

Carolyn’s Fruit Dip
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. light, non-fat strawberry yogurt
- ½ cup fat-free Cool Whip
- ¼ cup fat-free sour cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (or Splenda to taste)
Mix all ingredients together, chill and serve.
Serving size: 2 tablespoons. Each serving equals: 20 calories or ¼ carbohydrate serving.
