It’s almost Mother’s Day! And, what better way is there to make your mother feel special than to give her a beautiful arrangement of flowers?
Floral Care Tips
To assist you with ensuring your flowers are as healthy and beautiful as they can possibly be when you present them to mom, Market Basket would like to share a few tips!
Soda for Nutrients
Soda is a fantastic solution that will make your Mother’s Day flowers last a while longer. Soda has an optimum amount of sugar and functions as a nutrient for flowers. Remember to use a clear soda (Sprite) for transparent vases.
Hairspray for Preservation
For a quick fix to preserving flowers, spray some hair spray on the underside of the flower’s leaves and petals.
Vodka for Protection
One of the reasons flowers wilt is from the formation of bacteria in their vase’s stagnant water. One of the simplest ways to prevent harmful bacteria from forming in the first place is to add a few drops of vodka (yes, vodka!) to the water. This can actually be dual-purposed, as vodka has sugar content that provides nutrition to cut flowers.
Aspirin for Protection
If you don’t have vodka, you can also crush an aspirin and let dissolve in the vase water to prevent bacteria from forming.
