Do carbs make you fat? Carbs certainly are thought to make you fat, but they don’t make you fat. Does fat make you fat? No, fat doesn’t make you fat either. Eating too many calories of any kind of food will make you gain weight!
Are you curious how many calories you need a day for safe weight loss? This depends on how many calories you are currently consuming each day. You will need to give up 3,500 calories to lose one pound of body fat. Most experts agree that individuals can lose up to two pounds a week without losing lean muscle tissue, and only lose excess body fat. So if you are currently eating 2500 calories a day, and you decrease your intake to 1500 calories a day, this would mean you are consuming 1000 calories less each day. 1000 calories less each day, 7 days of the week, equals 7000 calories less per week, which will give you exactly 2 pounds lost a week.
